Get Ready for Summer Reading!

"Libraries Rock!" on banner over an electric guitar sitting on a pile of books.

It is finally time for pool parties, reading on the beach, and outdoor concerts! School is out in just over two weeks, and this Friday our Summer Reading Club begins! The theme this year is “Libraries Rock” and we have three months of music-related programs lined up, as well as great prizes for participants.

Just like in years past, the more you read, the better your chances are for winning a prize. Sign up will begin on June 1 at www.henricolibrary.org/src. Sign up online or in the library. Once you have signed up, pick up your reading log and limited edition kazoo from your librarian!

This year, it’s easier to win prizes than ever before, and the more you read, the better your chances are for winning a grand prize.

Kids and Teens, each day you read at least 20 minutes counts as one entry. Adults, each book you read counts as one entry. We encourage you to also keep track of the books you’re reading by entering author(s) and title(s).You can also print out a list of books you’ve read at any time!

Prizes

If you sign up before June 30th, you will automatically be entered to win a Family 4-Pack of tickets to the Richmond Flying Squirrels (all ages eligible).

Once you register and log at least some reading you’ll be entered into weekly drawings for $25 Gift Certificates to major retailers like Target, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and Amazon. Drawings are every Monday from June 18 – August 27 (all ages eligible).

The Grand Prize Drawings include a $500 Gift Certificate to Great Wolf Lodge (all ages eligible), a YISSVIC Kids Musical Instruments Set (for preschoolers), Kala Mahogany Concert Ukulele (for elementary school kids), Korg Volca Digital Sample Sequencer (for teens), and Bose
SoundLink Wireless Headphones (for adults) drawn on August 31. There will also be drawings at each branch for a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant for adults.

To be eligible for the grand prize, kids and teens need to have read at least twenty minutes on twenty different days, and adults need to have read at least five books.
