Angela Easterling, raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Greenville, SC, is a 2009 & 2010 Kerrville New Folk Finalist, a 2011 Telluride Troubadour, and a 2012 Wildflower Performing Songwriter Finalist. She will a perform a combination of her own original songs interspersed with selections of classic folk, roots, country, and rock tunes.
As part of her performance, she discusses the craft of songwriting and tells the
stories behind her songs and how they came to be, weaving in some of the history of roots music and the artists who have influenced her writing. Angela Easterling has presented this program as a part of the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibit “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.”
She will be accompanied by accomplished guitarist Brandon Turner, who has played with such well-known artists as Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris and Sierra Hull.
