Why is Sandston Library great?
The Sandston Library is a bright, comfy and cheerful place and so are its patrons. It is a staple in the Sandston community and has been for over 80 years. Our patrons value and appreciate our services and some families have been coming here for multiple generations. It is indeed a privilege to serve in such a community.
How long have you worked in libraries and in Henrico County?
I have been working in libraries for the past 20 years. I began my career with Henrico County in 2000 at Laburnum E.S as a Media Specialist. I transferred to the public library in 2005 and arrived at Sandston Library in 2007.
A fun factoid about me is:
I was an auditor briefly in NY.
One of my favorite books is:
The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson
My preferred device is:
If you had to choose… fiction or nonfiction?
Some Sandston staff picks are:
Carol – I, Claudius by Robert Graves
Chris – A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
Kathi – I want my Hat by Jon Klassen
My selected Sandston customer comment from our recent survey:
“My preteen hated to read. Even though she loved her elementary school librarian she had little use for the library. Then one day while we were looking for books the librarian at the Sandston Branch showed her how easy it was to find books online. That was the start of her new love of reading. She discovered book series that she enjoyed and couldn’t wait to move on to the next one in the series. All because a librarian over heard us talking and offered really practical help and had the time to help my daughter!”
