February Fun

Note to self

It may be a short month but we’ve got a lot going on in February. Some of the month long/recurring events are:

  • There are the (almost) daily storytimes for the youngest members of our community.
  • Book discussions for adults and teens that cover a wide range of books for you read and talk about.
  • The Sandston Library is having a month long Black History Trivia Challenge that will challenge your knowledge.

In addition to these ongoing programs we’ve got a lot of one-time-only events during the month.

On Thursday the 3rd the Tuckahoe Library will be offering a program for adults. Living your Dreams at 60 and beyond will be presented by a creative aging expert who will talk about empowerment, adventure, and telling your own story.

The Fairfield Library will be hosting a resume workshop on Monday the 7th. This workshop will help anyone needing assistance with creating a basic resume.

If you are interested in learning more about the Virginia College Savings Plan you will definitely want to make plans to come to the Tuckahoe Library on Wednesday the 9th. A representative from the Virginia College Savings Plan will discuss the four different 529 plans available and answer your questions.

The Legacy of Weyanoke promises to be a very interesting event at the Fairfield Library on Saturday the 12th. We will be celebrating  the history of Henrico County by combining the history and music of Native American and Black cultures.

Conquering clutter will be the theme of a program I should attend on Wednesday the 16th at the Dumbarton Library. Susan Campbell of “More Than Moving for Seniors, Inc” will explain how to get rid of the clutter!

If you are interested in learning about your family’s history you will want to sign up for Ancestor Hunting Online on Monday the 21st at the Twin Hickory Library. Space is limited for this program and there aren’t many spots left.

The Varina  and Tuckahoe Libraries are both having book sales on Saturday the 26th. The Tuckahoe is selling books on Friday the 25th too. So you could go to both.

Another event on Saturday the 26th is “How I learned to Skype” at the North Park Library. If you’ve heard of Skype and want to learn more this is for you.

There is much more going on this month. Take a look at our calendar of events for more programs and events at our libraries.
