The Glen Allen Library is now open for business! The reopening ceremony last night was a lot of fun with over 1,000 people attending the celebration! Almost everyone I spoke with remarked how happy they were to have ‘their’ branch back and how different it was. I noticed many people figuring out where things used to be. It was fun watching people say “That was the meeting room!” or “That’s where the children’s room used to be, Mom!” The most fun was watching the expressions on people’s faces when they walked in and got a glimpse of their library for the first time. I heard “wow” and “oh my goodness” a lot throughout the night.

Many people signed up for library cards, checked out materials, asked questions and used the computers. The food was great and almost everyone was smiling. It was a fun evening and I’m glad we had the chance to celebrate with 1,000 of our closest friends.

If you couldn’t make the ceremony, that’s ok. They will be open regular hours from now on. Those hours are Monday – Wednesday 10am – 9pm. Thursday 1pm – 9pm. Friday – Saturday 10am – 6pm. I hope you will be able to visit them soon.
