We are very happy to be celebrating the reopening our Glen Allen Library on Monday October 25th from 6-9pm. Tuesday the 26th will be the first full day it is open for business. It has been closed since June of 2009 for expansion and has really been missed by all of the regulars. Glen Allen 2.0 will be 12,000 square feet larger than the previous version. It features a Founding Fathers collection, larger meeting room, a dedicated children’s storytime room, conference room, study rooms, and a quiet reading room. It also has a lot of new materials, computers, a courtyard and a FIRE PLACE! It’s a gorgeous facility and I think the people of Henrico County will be very happy with it.
If you were a regular of the original Glen Allen you will be happy to know that the same staff will be there to help you. They have been working at our other libraries during the construction helping everyone and are very happy to be home. In addition to the familiar staff we’ve added some new faces and some old friends have returned. It is a good group of people and they are very excited about their new facility.
We hope you can join us next Monday for the reopening festivities. If you can’t make it that’s ok. The library will be ready on Tuesday to serve the people of Henrico County just like they did before.
